Our Mission and History
At Foundation Fong Inc., our mission is to provide food, support, and hope to children, families and individuals in vulnerable situations in Peru. What began as a personal response to the 2020 pandemic evolved into a foundation dedicated to alleviating food insecurity and empowering those in need. During the pandemic, while major cities in America were providing support, the situation in Peru was drastically different. Deeply connected to my homeland, I was moved by a report about a local soup kitchen struggling without basic resources—no water, electricity, or food—yet still under strict lockdown. I knew I had to act.
With the support of family and friends, I began sending money to Peru to purchase groceries and deliver them to vulnerable communities, many of which were difficult and dangerous to reach. The smiles and gratitude of the families made every effort worth it, sparking a deep commitment to standing in solidarity with those in greatest need.
What started as a small personal gesture soon grew into a community support network. We organized fundraisers, especially during the Christmas seasons, to expand our impact. By the most recent holiday season, we were supporting four soup kitchens, providing food to around 400 people, and sustaining families for one to two months. This demonstrated the power of collective action and shared commitment in times of need.
